Tariffs Set To Zero Under A 'No Deal' Brexit
Posted by: CommonWealth - 03-14-2019, 01:01 PM - Forum: Trade and Industry - Replies (2)

Ministers announced that 87% of all goods entering the country would face zero tariffs, with import taxes remaining for only 13% of incoming goods.

This would be a temporary condition.

The vast majority of exports will be tariff free.

  Live! Brexit 'Short Extension' Discussion
Posted by: CommonWealth - 03-14-2019, 11:58 AM - Forum: Brexit Deal Discussions - Replies (4)

Voting will start at 17:00 hrs. Probably 19:00 hrs

This vote is to extend the leave date until June 30th, the last date possible before the EU elections.

If May gets her deal passed by the commons next week the reason for the extension will be to pass necessary legislation etc.

If May doesn't get her deal passed by the commons they will have to come up with a very good excuse and possibly agree to new terms and conditions from the EU.

By the way, every single member of the EU must agree to extend article 50.

Many MPs are wanting a longer extension!!!!!!!!!!

There are also two amendment tabled.

One for a second referendum (Amendment H)
One for no second referendum

Bercow will decide which amendments to put to the vote. Hmmmm. I wonder which amendments he will put forward. Dodgy

Sigh, Yes, its amendment H that is being put to the vote.

  Theresa May's plan revealed

Looks like there will be another meaningful vote next week with the threat of a lengthy delay if MP's don't pass it. Looks like blackmail to me.

  Theresa May's Croaky Voice
Posted by: JohnR - 03-13-2019, 07:58 AM - Forum: Brexit Deal Discussions - No Replies

Listening to Theresa May's speech after her defeat last night just made me cringe, I think the strain of all this Brexit stuff is getting to her, really she should do the right thing, resign, take a long holiday and let someone who is actually up to the job take over.

  Second Referendum.
Posted by: CommonWealth - 03-12-2019, 03:20 PM - Forum: Brexit Deal Discussions - Replies (3)

According to the Independent, there are 283 MPs that support a second referendum and 355 against.

Over 25% more MPs are against a second referendum.

I doubt a second referendum will be called with these MPs currently in seats.
